Acrylic acid is an organic compound whose chemical formula is C3H4O2. It is the simplest unsaturated carboxylic acid, consisting of a vinyl group and a carboxylic group.Pure acrylic is a clear colorless liquid with a characteristic pungent odor.It is soluble in water, alcohol, ether and chloroform and is prepared from propylene obtained from oil refineries.Acrylic acid can react with the characteristic of carboxylic acid, and the corresponding esters can be obtained by the reaction with alcohol. This kind of polymer can be used to produce all kinds of plastics, coatings, adhesives, elastomers, floor polishes and coatings.

The global demand for acetic acid is about 6.5 million metric tons per year (Mt/a), of which approximately 1.5 Mt/a is met by recycling; the remainder is manufactured from pertrochemical feedstock. As a chemical reagent, biological sources of acetic acid are of interest, but generally cannot compete economically. Vinegar is dilute acetic acid, often produced by fermentation and subsequent oxidation of ethanol.

STORAGE
The temperature in the storerooms shouldn’t be more than 5 C (except for products stored in pressured containers) and the humidity, shouldn' t be more than 85%. Sealed package is required. The product cannot contact with air directly, should be stored apart from oxidizer and alkali and avoid mixing, large-quantity and long-time storage. Adopt explosion-proof lighting and ventilating equipment, and forbid using mechanical equipment and tools that are easy to form sparkle. Emergency treatment equipment and suitable recovery materials should be equipped in the storage zone.
Applications:
1. It is used in industries of super absorbent polymer, addition polymerization of macromolecular and monomer for polyelectrolyte, organic synthesis, water treatment reagent and paper-making chemicals as functional monomer.
2. It has significant advantages as an additive in a wide range of copolymer-based finishes, coatings, adhesives, inks, lubricants, saturants, and plastics.
3. It is also used in the production of a wide variety of specialty esters, in drilling fluids and mineral processing chemicals, detergent builders.
4. Acrylic acid is prepared by means of polymerization or copolymerization, and is used in coating, adhesive, solid resin, mould plastics, etc.
